Abraham (Petrus line) Knickerbocker, B17301,2,3,4,5,6,7,1
M, #8378, b. about 1730, d. about 1791
Parents
Biography
- Abraham (Petrus line) Knickerbocker, B1730, was born about 1730 in Tivoli, Dutchess, NY.
- He and Gertrude Van Deusen were married on 20 December 1754 in Manhattan, New York, NY.1,1
- He died about 1791 in New York, New York, NY.2,4
- Petrus Knickerbocker was Harmen Janse's youngest son. We have trouble identifying all of his descendants. However, it is clear that only a handful of living male "Knickerbockers" are descended from the Petrus line.
- 1730: Clues: Man named Petrus Knickerbacker was "cartman" in NYC. Petrus & Neelte had a son Harman. (See church records). And, baptisms of Abraham's kids in NYC were witnessed by "Harmanus Knickerbacker." So, Abraham = son of Petrus.
- 1730 : This family has never been studied in detail. Church records provide clues, but the fate of his children and descendants involves some guesswork. An observation: Most Knickerbockers were farmers. There were very few Knickerbockers in NYC.
- Knic Generation #: 3.
- Knic Lineage: 1. HJ / 2. Peter / 3. Abraham (this person.)
- 1759: Sponsor at the baptism of Abraham Junior was Harmanus Knickerbacker. This fits nicely. Abraham Senior's brother Harman J Knickerbocker would have been 25 years old at this baptism.
- Abraham (Petrus line) Knickerbocker, B1730, lived in New York, New York, NY, in 1768. Abraham and Peter were electors.8
- He lived in New York, New York, NY, in 1775. Abraham and Gertje Knickerbocker were church members. Another member was a boy named Abraham Knickerbocker.9
- He lived in New York, New York, NY, in 1790.6
- He had his estate probated on 23 February 1791 in New York, New York, NY.2,4
- Person [30] in Van Alstyne's numbering system. NYGBR, 1908/1909.

- He lived in New York, New York, NY, in 1835. John and "Mrs Knickerbocker" (presumably John's wife, but could also be the widow of John's brother Abraham?) mentioned a couple of times in the attached church records, between 1829 and 1835. No hint about their fate.2
- 1836: John seems to disappear after 1830. It is possible that Rebecca in Philly in 1840 was his widow. (The ages of the boys seems to fit. Also: Bolivar born in NYC.) I have connected them, for now. Looking for proof.
