Fanny Knickerbocker1,2,3,4,5,6,7,7,8

F, #7315, b. 1805, d. 7 October 1887

Parents

Family: Selah Sr Barnes (b. about 1786)

Biography

  • Fanny Knickerbocker was born in 1805 in NY.1,2,3,5,8
  • She died on 7 October 1887 at age ~82 in Chenango, Broome, NY.4,5,6,7,7
  • She was buried in Greene, Chenango, NY.5
  • Fanny Knickerbocker had her estate probated in Broome, Schoharie, NY.7
  • 1807: Multiple trees on Ancestry claim that Fanny, dau of William, was born in 1790's. Totally inconsistant with the 1860 census, which is the one firm link that we have to William Sr. Working backwards (1855 and 1850), Fanny always shown b. abt. 1805
  • She lived in Greene, Chenango, NY, in 1850.3
  • She lived in Oxford, Chenango, NY, in 1855. Birth location hard to read. Comparing the handwriting to other entries on the page, the first letter doesn't match "g" or a "c". Could say "conn."1
  • 1858: See the court records that preceed William Senior's will. Fanny Barnes is listed as an heir of William Senior.
  • She lived in Jasper, Steuben, NY, in 1860. This is our firmest link to Fanny Barnes. The probate notice for William Senior, from the Albany paper, lists Fanny Barnes of Jasper, Steuben County. It does not list her husband, suggesting she was a widow. Perfect fit for this census entry.2
  • She lived in Fenton, Broome, NY, in 1870. Residence Post Office: Chenango Forks.8
  • She had her estate probated on 2 December 1887 in Broome, Schoharie, NY.6,7
