Cornelius' will was only 2 pages long, but was sloppy, and mentioned Dorcas, who were already dead. The executors didn't know the names and locations of all of the heirs. This resulted in a massive probate process. (The probate file is 140 pages long. The heading on this snapshot points to the location of the full file on LDS FS.) 1753 : See the report "Knickerbockers of Pine Plains NY" but beware: the report was written years ago. The updated story can be found in the 2021 update "Many Benjamin Knickerbockers" on knic.com.
3 October 1753: Findagrave currently claims Benjamin was born Nov 4th. Wrong. Actual birth date in early Oct is important. It means Benjamin “Senior” was probably the godfather of “Junior” instead of being the father. See the confusing baptism.

4 November 1753: Ada Smith apparently saw the original records in the old German/Dutch. For the sponsors, Benjamin's spouse is called "his wife" by the Holland Society, but "Syn H Vr." by this alternate transcription. (Seine Vrouw = his wife.)
4 November 1753: Alternate transcription vis FS still lists Benjamin's father as Laurentz Knikkebacker. (See page 36 of Ada L. Smith's book.) Thus, the original record (now lost?) probably said father was Laurentz.
