Solomon Knickerbocker was born in Steuben Co. NY in 1829. After the death of his father, also named Solomon, he and his mother moved to Illinois where they are recorded as living in Rock County in the 1850 census.
Solomon married Acelia Bigelow who was born in Ohio.
Other census records follow Solomon, Acelia and Rebecca to Iowa, Story county in 1860 living as neighbors to Philo (Philander) Knickerbocker and then back to Illinois in Albany township 1870. Finally Wisconsin land was available. They came by covered wagon and built a log cabin near Sand Lake where Knickerbocker lake still exists.
in 1875, 1880, 1895, 1900, 1905 census records having them living in Chippewa County, settling at last in Sampson township near New Auburn where Solomon died in 1906. The land in the town of Sampson still has a small lake called Knickerbocker Lake off of Knickerbocker Road.
